From March 13, Qingguo Lane, a 34-episode television series will first broadcast on CCTV Channel 8. It tells a love story happened in the Qingguo Lane which breaks out of the tunnel vision, and presents the conflict between urban development and cultural preservation. Qingguo Lane is based on the namesake of an old alley in Changzhou. In the story, Wang Geng, a painter returned from overseas, falls in love with Qing Guo, a poor girl working as a nanny. Meanwhile, it discusses about how to protect the nation's outstanding cultural heritage in the process of large-scale urban construction and development. This is so far the first television series reflecting the conflict between cultural preservation and urban transformation, which presents many social issues in the modern age such as urban renewal demolition, loneliness among the elderly, tangled emotions of people in the process of economic and social development, etc.
