It was learnt from Changzhou Power Supply Company that local residents will be able to inquire power supply authority to provide them with detail information about their electricity consumption at different intervals, so that people can be aware of how much electricity it cost to keep water heater or mains supply of television open for long time. Smart Meters will monitor and record consumption of electric energy.

According to the official of Changzhou Power Supply Company,the Electricity ConsumptionInformation AcquisitionSystemhas been preliminary completedat the beginning of year. Up to now, there are more than 1.8 million electricity meters in Changzhou , of which over 660,000 meters have accomplished information acquisition. The entire system is estimated to achieve full coverage of residential and industrial users around the whole city by the end of year. Electricity Consumption Information Acquisition System is a link between Smart Meters and Smart Grid, as well as an important support torealize intelligent power use and develop energy efficiency.　

At present, Smart Grid has been put into test run. Two households of Yulongwan Residential Area became the first beneficiaries of this system. Based on the information acquisition platform, a 24-hour remote monitoring will be practiced on these two families�� electricity meters for one month.
