Update: 29 newly confirmed cases in Jiangsu

According to the officially released information from the Jiangsu Provincial Health Commission, on February 8, Jiangsu had 29 newly confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus pneumonia (NCP), of which six were in Nanjing, four were in Wuxi, four were in Xuzhou, three were in Suzhou, one was in Nantong, five were in Lianyungang, four were in Huai’an, one was in Yangzhou and one was in Zhenjiang. Eight additional patients have fully recovered and were discharged from the hospital.

Among the newly confirmed cases, the oldest patient was 73, and the youngest was 20. All of them are currently receiving treatment in designated hospitals and are in stable physical condition.

As of February 8, a total of 468 confirmed cases have been reported in Jiangsu, of which 31 cases were confirmed in Changzhou. As of this update, a total of five patients in Changzhou diagnosed with the NCP have recovered and were subsequently discharged from the hospital.

Experts urge people to stay at home and avoid public situations. Do not use public transportation if possible. Private car drivers are encouraged to open windows for ventilation. Wear a mask if you have to go out, and clean and disinfect your hands often. If symptoms such as fever, cough, soreness of throat, chest distress, breathing difficulty, feebleness or diarrhea have occurred, call 12320 (health hotline) or 85683343 (hotline of Changzhou Municipal Foreign Affairs Office for expats) for consultation and seek treatment at one of the designated hospitals if necessary.
