It was learned from Changzhou Investigation Team of the National Bureau of Statistics on January 14 that Changzhou’s CPI in 2013 rose 2.2% on a year-on-year basis. According to the statistics, Changzhou’s CPI rose 2.5% in December 2013 compared with the same period of last year, falling 0.1% on a month-on-month basis. The prices of eight categories of consumer goods and services experienced "seven ups and one downs", of which: the food prices rose 2.4%; the prices of clothing increased by 1.5%; the prices of household equipment and maintenance services surged by 3.0%; the prices of medical care and personal products leaped by 4.9%; the prices of transport and communications category lifted by 1.1%, the prices of entertainment and educational products and services grew by 2.1%; the prices of housing increased jumped by 3.4%; and the prices of alcoholic drinks and tobacco dropped by 0.6%. The fresh vegetables year-on-year index fell 2.3%, which for the first time realized the transition from positive into the negative since June 2012. It was regarded as the direct factor that suppressed the rise of food prices, with the total index dropping by 0.06%.
