On December 11, the Nuenbo Intelligent Connected Vehicle program was officially signed into Wujin National High-Tech Zone (WIZ). The first phase of the project has a total investment of 1 billion yuan, mainly engaged in the research and development, production and sales of intelligent connected new energy vehicles. It is planned to be put into operation in 2019, expecting annual sales of 1.5 billion yuan.

Ninebot is a privately held company headquartered in Beijing. In April of 2015 Ninebot acquired Segway Inc., headquartered in Bedford, New Hampshire. The combined company’s focus is on the research and development, design, manufacturing, distribution and sales of short-distance transportation products. Ninebot (Changzhou) Technology Co., Ltd. is a subsidiary set up in Changzhou Science and Education Town, which mainly develops and produces hover boards and go-karts.

The WIZ has established the Changzhou Intelligent Electric Vehicle Industrial Park, focusing on the intelligentization and networking of new energy vehicles. Some of the domestic leading automobile enterprises such as BAIC New Energy, Chehejia and Neolix have already settled in the park. It is now making efforts to build itself into a state-level intelligent connected vehicle demonstration zone.
