On the afternoon of August 24, Wang Quan, secretary of Changzhou Municipal Committee of CPC, met with the delegation of Underwriters Laboratories (UL) headed by Weifang Zhou, president of the Connected Technologies Business Unit, at the Administration Center. Wang Quan briefed the guests on the construction and development prospects of the Changzhou Inspection, Testing and Certification Industrial Park. He hoped that both sides will promote win-win cooperation with complementary advantages. Zhou Weifang said that Changzhou has a good manufacturing base and service system for foreign-invested enterprises. He looked forward to further exchanges and cooperation with Changzhou to achieve mutual benefit. UL LLC is a global safety consulting and certification company headquartered in Northbrook, Illinois. It maintains offices in 46 countries. Established in 1894 as the Underwriters' Electrical Bureau, it was known throughout the 20th century as Underwriters Laboratories and participated in the safety analysis of many of that century's new technologies. UL is one of several companies approved to perform safety testing by the U.S. federal agency Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). OSHA maintains a list of approved testing laboratories, which are known as Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories. At present, UL is planning to build a power battery testing laboratory in the Yangtze River Delta. The total investment of the project will be at least 15 million US dollars, and the output value of the first year is expected to reach around 60 million yuan.
