Update: 2 newly confirmed cases in Changzhou

According to the officially released information from the Jiangsu Provincial Health Commission, on February 6, Jiangsu had 35 newly confirmed cases of pneumonia caused by the novel coronavirus, of which two were in Changzhou. Another three patients in Changzhou have fully recovered and were discharged from the hospital yesterday. As of this update, a total of five patients in Changzhou diagnosed with the new strain of coronavirus have recovered and were subsequently discharged from the hospital.

The two newly confirmed cases in Changzhou, aged 24 and 25, both had close contact with one of the previously confirmed cases who has recently traveled from Wuhan to Changzhou on January 20. Both of them are currently receiving treatment in designated hospitals and are in stable physical condition. 10 close contacts have been found and are now under medical quarantine.

As of February 6, a total of 408 confirmed cases have been reported in Jiangsu, of which 29 cases were confirmed in Changzhou.

Experts urge people to stay at home and avoid public situations. Do not use public transportation if possible. Private car drivers are en-couraged to open windows for ventilation. Wear a mask if you have to go out, and clean and disinfect your hands often. If symptoms such as fever, cough, soreness of throat, chest distress, breathing difficulty, feebleness or diarrhea have occurred, call 12320 (health hotline) or 85683343 (hotline of Changzhou Municipal Foreign Affairs Office for expats) for consultation and seek treatment at one of the designated hospitals if necessary.
