On May 10, Mayor Chen Jinhu met with a delegation led by Alfred Chan Wing-kin, BOD chairman of the Hong Kong and China Gas Company (Towngas). The two sides exchanged views on how to expand cooperation in multiple fields. Towngas established its Changzhou branch in 2003. In 2019, the company signed a strategic partnership agreement with Wujin District, setting up a specialized company on environmental governance. During the meeting, Mayor Chen pointed out that under stable cooperative ties, the government will lend its full support to the company in its future programs on clean energy, environmental governance, and ecological conservation. Currently, Changzhou is on the path to green and low-carbon development, which is well-aligned with the corporate vision of Towngas. Mr. Chan expressed his appreciation to the municipal government. It is his hope that the two sides will ramp up cooperation in PV, sanitation projects, and kitchen waste management. Through joint efforts, Changzhou will achieve carbon neutrality, re-structure its energy mix and upgrade industrial sectors. Also present at the meeting were municipal leaders Li Lin, Jiang Feng, Shi Zhengda and secretary of the municipal government Zhou Chengtao.
